So I finally got to Chanur's Legacy. I never read it before because honestly Hilfy was insufferable. And I stand by that assessment, though she seems to finally be getting the glimmer of a clue through her thick skull. And I do love getting deep into alien minds.
Definitely going to go on to Cherryh's other stuff, too--the Alliance/Union universe to find out Tully's context, and also I've got Foreigner here. (Tried to get into it once and never got very far.) But I'm wanting other sci-fi, too. Definitely on a kick. You nerds got any recommendations?
PS: LOOK AT THIS FUCKING COVER I FOUND. Suddenly I want to learn French just to find out what the everloving hell the translator who described Pyanfar THAT way to the illustrator was on about.

Date: 2015-03-03 06:52 am (UTC)I read Cordelia's books, tried to read one of the Miles books and couldn't quite do it because I missed Cordelia, but I think it's been long enough that I can start something new. Little Fuzzy is great, as is Scalzi's retelling of it. I haven't read Flinx, though; I'll look into it!

Date: 2015-03-06 01:38 pm (UTC)...now I want to go back and read Chanur again. Darn it, I don't have time to get sucked into a book right now!

If you don't mind that the books all have plots interlaced with romance, Sharon Miller and Steve Lee's Korvald series has some fun alien races and cultures. I go back and forth between loving them and having trouble reading them depending on how strongly ace I'm feeling at any point, though, because they're definitely all love stories as well as sci-fi stories.
