“I’d say he’s more like a half-wit wrapped in a hot dog bun inside a coloring book.”

and

“Mr. Bloom, as is his custom, leaps about, trying to overcome his incurable blandness, and is upstaged by special effects, musical cues, octopus tentacles and pieces of wood.”

Today’s quotes brought to you by Lewis Black doing voice acting in a Duck Dodgers cartoon and a New York Times review of Dead Man’s Chest by A.O. Scott, respectively. Guess which is which!

It’s nice to know, by the way, that I’m not the only person in the world who thinks ol’ Leggy is overrated.  I admit that Orlando Bloom can do some really good clueless-and-slightly-suspicious expressions, but sometimes I wonder if they’re truly acted, or if that's just how he looks.  His entire role in The Lord Of The Rings, as far as I could tell, was to sum up important plot points in five words or less,* and then pull some boneheaded stunt so we could see his pretty pretty wig hair streaming in the wind. I could go on, but it would just turn into my Elves Ain't Got No Style rant and then the geeks who read this will rise as one and slay me.  So I’ll just say that I do think he’s bland, and leave it at that.

Poor Orly.

*Aragorn: We can use our armies to stage an attack on the Black Gate!  This will keep Sauron’s Eye upon us, and give Frodo and Sam a chance to get to Mount Doom.
Legolas: A diversion!

It's funny, when off set Orlando Bloom is all punked out with piercings and everything.

Punk until he starts talking, anyway. ;)

But yeah, wasn't he the one who would go off and do X-treem Sportzz during the LotR filming and break his ribs and things? I guess that fits with Legolas and Will, though ...

It's me, Emily again.

Ah, I'm so happy I'm not the only one who thinks that about Mr. Bloom. He was especially bland in the latest film, I do believe. Your Lord of the Rings quotation sums up everything perfectly, in my book. As for the Duck Dodgers quotation, IIII'm mildly horrified and curious at the same time.

Oh, I took your challenge and added three birds. Apparently a vulk, a meat-eating crane with an eggplant colored hat, and a yellow with red speckled parakeet wandered their way to him while he was enjoying a margarita and a cheeseburger while wearing a pink Hawaiian t-shirt. It's probably one of the dumbest yet strangely complex pictures I've ever done. I'll send it to you when I'm through with it. Can you note me your address on Facebook? Much obliged, dahling ;) Thanks bunches.

It's very true. He's just window dressing. I maintain that his best scene in the movie was when he got whipped.

His characterization of Legolas made me sad, but he makes a very pretty elf.

He's not even that pretty! Legolas is an amazing character as far as I can tell, but gah...you're so very right.

You might enjoy this: a ninja weighs in on the new Pirates movie.

That's a pretty damn funny site all around. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

"It's interesting that every single character, except for Keira Knightley, is a woman." A bold move, indeed.

Can't pirates and ninjas set aside their difference and get along? Or would that destroy the Universe?

A little searching turns up the start of the VSDs for the second movie, but she stops after doing Leggy a second time.

Apparently she felt her time was better spent doing Harry Potter fanfics. :(

I mean, they're really good fanfics, but they're no VSDs

Always the prettiest. Although Elrond looks better in Arwen's clothes.

Glad you liked it!
