So I’ve been trying to get my hands on a tea bomb for two weeks now, and you’d think a place like Eugene would have them around every corner. Not so! My mother said she’d send one but hasn’t yet. The guy at the supermarket, upon hearing the term “tea infuser,” flatly informed me that there was no such thing. A girl there who did not assume that anything she hadn’t heard of didn’t exist checked and said that maybe Hiron’s had it, but the Hiron’s lady, who could not be buggered to stop doing something important with balloon-tying to help me, snapped that they were out.

I was feeling ill-used about that, because I’ve got two different loose-leaf teas I want to try.

And then today it occurred to me that Josh’s Christmas present to me was two teacups with built-in tea strainers, and I have spent the last two weeks leaving the strainers in the cupboard and drinking teabag tea out of the cups.

Remind me again about how I’m just hitting my intellectual prime here? Be afraid.
