Mini Addy In Chicago!

Hey, what time is it? It's time for Mini Addy's adventure photos! Welcome to Chicago! Mini Addy was excited to get sightseeing right away, but we got there late at night. So instead we went straight to the hotel.

The next day, though, it was time to get going. Addy was impressed by the view from the hotel's skyway.

She made a few friends up there, too!

Then we hit the Magnificent Mile. Mia was here once before, on a tour during a high school orchestra trip. It's gotten a lot fancier since then. Let's take a look.

Hey, who's that?

There was a cute little park after all the shops that, for some reason, absolutely nobody was in even though people were all over the place. It was nice at the gazebo; Addy was glad to be away from the crowd for a moment.

Come on, Addy! We have sightseeing to do!

Wait, what? A beach? This isn't like any of the beaches Addy remembers from Africa!

After hanging out at the beach for a bit, Addy took a look around the Museum of Surgical Science. Addy's pretty glad she lives in the modern era, because those tools don't look sanitary.

But enough sightseeing for today. It's a nice bonus, but Mini Addy and I came here for another reason. Wedding party time!

Addy, what are you doing up there? You're getting footprints on the cake--oh, I see. You just wanted to say hello.

See? Now you've got cake actually caked on. Good thing we have some rainbow napkins.

No cake yet, though. We have to take some time to admire it. So enjoy these other delicious snacks instead.

Oh, now the weather clears up. When we were walking to the party there was a sudden deluge, and Mia got totally soaked. The rain only let up when Mia bought an umbrella at a souvenir stand, because Mia is a wizard.

It's really nice to pose her with someone familiar with dolls.
Later on that night, Addy finally got to enjoy herself some cake! It's a good thing
childthursday wasn't mad about the footprints!

Mini Addy was tired after the party, but fortunately she got her own big bed to sleep in. Addy does enjoy these, but it's a long hike to get out of them in the morning.

One more day in Chicago! Let's go to the zoo!

Walking is thirsty work. But this darn bottle is too tall!

And this glass is too unwieldy!

Here, Mini Addy. Try a straw.

Wow. You really were thirsty!

On to lunch!

After lunch, we strolled around the zoo. This brought back some memores.

Hey, look! There are some Twigas now!
(At the end of a safari it's amazing how jaded you get toward giraffes. Fortunately, it wore off.)

Ooh! A rhino! We never got to see one of those on the safari!

Never got to see one of these fellas on safari, either. What with there being No Tigers In Africa and all.
Mini Addy always likes it when I find something she can feel tall next to.

This wasn't in the zoo, by the way. It was the next thing on our tour--a boat tour!

I was glad to sit down for this part of our adventure. But Addy was still up for some climbing on the rails. Watch out, Addy! You might fall into the river!

Getting into the lake from the river is a process that requires a few steps. Mini Addy's looking at a harbor lock that has to close, so that another can open, to keep the Chicago River's level lower than Lake Michigan because it has to keep flowing backward because ... look, I don't even know, but it's pretty crazy.

It was so nice to spend a couple of days in Chicago! Mini Addy was thrilled with the trip, and sorry to say goodbye so quickly. She'll have to come back sometime and check out more!
