I have nothing useful to add to the Boston business except more of the same "Damn, that is not awesome" and "But it's nice to know that most folks are not so much the blowing-you-up type as they are the type who will run alongside your wheelchair holding your arteries shut after an explosion."* I just need to get it off my chest that, you know, randomly and anonymously exploding people seems to be a poor way to make whatever crazy point you want to make.

*Although some people around here are of the "exaggerate the shit out of things" type. We had one lady in the office yesterday claiming authoritatively that it was a country-wide attack. The way she was telling it, every major landmark and city in the country was being Emmeriched into shrapnel by The Terrorists.

I feel somewhat... well, a complicated set of feelings, since my mother is from Boston and most of that side of the family lives in the area. None of them were hurt, but it's a lot more personal for them -- and therefore, for me -- because it's their home. So Boston feels a lot more personal than most cities because it's the hometown of so many people I love, and a place I visit at least once a year.

I know what you mean--I'd react that way to a few cities. Boston is not one of them, but I do know the feeling. (Hell, while I was in Oregon, the mall I used to work at was treated to a mass shooting. It was surreal to look at the maps and recognize all the places where people were barricaded, or where the shooter was, or--yeah. Weird.)

I am glad that nobody got hurt, though!

Reminds me of when the Dawson College shooting happened right by where my b/f and I lived in Montreal, way back in fall 2006. : /

...Emmeriched? hee hee hee... It's like "enriched" only much less so. Must use this word more.

I like that people know exactly what I mean, too. I'll give Roland Emmerich this ... he's got a recognizable signature.
