The cat would like to rescind her earlier assertion that carpet cleaning is the worst thing in the world. She now realizes that the worst thing in the world is skunks.

Honestly, I can see her point on the matter.

On a related note, THANK GOD for the internet hive mind. I can't remember the de-skunking recipe offhand. Thanks, internet!

Gotta hand it to 'em, though--that is one EFFECTIVE defense. And really, I can't blame then if they're being harassed by a cat. I tell her to stay away from the striped mousies, but does she listen?

My parents worry about their cat running into the skunk who lives under their tool shed too, as his tendency to get into trouble would not serve him well then, and I can only expect that they'd rather not have to deal with that either.

I've got to hand it to the Internet. That's a lot more thorough than plain ol' tomato juice!

Evidently it doesn't work all that well, though I can't say I've tried it. The hydrogen peroxide solution worked well last time (THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE) after just one bath, but this time she was exponentially more skunked, so it took a couple of batches, and even now she still stinks up close.

Come to think of it, I had just whipped up a batch of pizza sauce that evening. Maybe I'll dump it on her. She may continue to smell of skunk, but at least it'll be tempered by garlic and Italian seasoning ...
