I also hate those nights where you THINK you're lying there awake all night, but it turns out you were asleep.

At least, I am pretty sure that I was only dreaming I was awake. Either that, or there sure were a lot of Muppets in my room last night.

Dreaming about being awake gets the weirdest.

Hypnogogic hallucinations, maybe?

Apropos of nothing, a couple of Chinese guys who make musical instruments out of vegetables. If you ever break your ocarina, you can always go down to the store and buy a potato!

That is a terrific icon. Pissed off Kermit is great.

Definitely hypnagogia. I did think there was a specific term for the illusion that you've been awake all night--right up until your alarm wakes you up for real. It doesn't feel quite like a false awakening, since you never feel like you were asleep. But if I saw it before, I can't find it now.

I like the lettuce kazoo. (I knew of using gourds as instruments, but just the dry rind part. Looking for MORE water content in the vegetables changes things.)

Also, incidentally, my own ocarina is known as a sweet potato ocarina.

What I hate is when I dream I'm awake and going through my morning routine (which is not quite the same) - then when the alarm has gone off and I'm in the bathroom about to turn on the tap, I get this wicked sense of deja vu and have to make sure I'm actually awake.

Also, I inevitably dream that I'm going through my morning routine but doing something wrong so then I spend the morning frantically trying to make sure I didn't actually skip my meds or leave the water running.

Grah, yes, I get false awakenings much more often than ... I dunno, false staying-awake? I especially hate it when the alarm going off TRIGGERS a false awakening, and then I wake up and dammit I AM late now because I thought I was already up!
