Hee hee!

Obama to DC: “You call this snow?”

That’s right, Mr. President. Join the ranks of the snow snobs! I see your blizzardy Chicago and raise you a school that was several miles down a mountain!

All right, to bed early tonight. Got me some preschool to attend tomorrow--blizzard or no.

*laugh*

Yeah, if I can open the door, the snowfall is only moderate. We rarely get heavy snow here anymore, but we used to. There is still quite a bit today -- the door scraped off the top of the snow, so that's about 8" on the step.

Hehe. I do NOT miss living in western Michigan in the winter, I can tell you that.

This year my best friend up there had her snowmobiling fun cut short because the roof on their garage caved in from snow and damaged her toy.

I laughed when I read that!

Especially since my sister-in-law from Chicago is now living in Wisconsin, west of Madison, and complaining about the amount of snow they get! Admittedly, they've really been dumped on the past two winters. But still!

Having experienced my first DC "snow emergency" via car, I will point out that while Obama is undeniably correct, it is not the general populace that doesn't know how to deal with snow, it's the road maintenance people. I mean, seriously? When it snows, major highways are should be plowed and salted, not looked at with the attitude of "OH NOES THERE IS SOME PRECIPITATION!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!"

BAREFOOT! IN A FREEZING BLIZZARD! IN 104 DEGREE TEMPERATURES! WITH BARBED WIRE ON OUR FEET FOR TRACTION!

Actually, that was my elementary school. It was around the mountain, so we did in fact have to go uphill both ways to get there.

Also downhill.

Both of which suck when the road is a sheet of ice under several inches of snow.
