After we had gotten our emo out of the way yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] gondolinchick01 and I exchanged some interesting items. The one I gave her is a post all its own—it was supposed to be her Christmas present, but due to delays it wound up being an Emo present. She also can’t take it home yet, since I had to get her opinion on a few details that I have to add.

But meanwhile, there’s the thing she had for me—a mysterious package! I was a little confused—I thought it was something she’d ordered on eBay or Etsy or something, since it was hand-addressed to her. But no, there was a nice note for her inside and a couple little presents, and wrapped all nicely for me was this:

And inside, this!

It’s from [livejournal.com profile] pixel39, who I have just found has two superpowers: awesome handwriting, and the ability to read minds. How did she know I’ve been on the lookout for a decent doll’s tea set?* The note is very nice—it was given to her by her grandfather, and she feels it will find a good home here with people the right size for it.

Japanese tea set from around 1945-ish? Or so? Look at that pretty pattern on the teapot. We had best set it up.

It comes with plates! This makes me even happier.

Daja, Kuen, Molly, and Laurel enjoy some tea and cookies with their new dishware. (And Kuen is apparently taking advantage of the awkward way doll legs fit on chairs to play footsies with Daja.)

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] pixel39! I had no idea this was on its way, but it was very, very cool to get it!

(I swear this is it for photo posts for a while. Well, except for that one …)

*The keyword here is “decent.” I’ve found a lot of hideous ones …

That's an awesome set! Much better than most of the ones available these days. I did find a rather nice fake Fiestaware one for my neices, but it wouldn't work for non-modern dolls - your set can slide around a bit!

Oh how adorable! Amusingly, I don't particularly care for dolls, but I love love love mini tea sets. (It's a legacy of a decade or so as an archaeologist specializing in ceramics and glass...)

I have five or six sets, given to me by various people. And someday when my daughter is significantly older, she'll be able to play with them. ::coughs and looks at her two half-broken tea sets::

(Two of my tea sets are Willow pattern, given to me by my two best friends in the same year, each not knowing what the other one had bought me.)

You're very welcome. I am glad you like it. And here I was worried that my handwriting wasn't neat enough! ;-)
