Mad, I Say! MAD!

As I said, I wasn’t planning on a costume this year, but suddenly I’m hanging out with my friend Jess, and you can never count on anything with her—you don’t know what you’re doing with Jess until after the fact. So I wound up invited to a Halloween part, and I suddenly needed a costume.
So! I took an idea I’d been toying with for a completely different reason, and turned it on myself. I found some tremendously ugly green fabric and tore apart one of Dad’s old lab coats to use as a pattern. A little hair and some awful makeup later, and guess who I was!

That’s right, dudes! It’s Pearl Forrester, co-Mad in Season 7 and Head Mad in 8-10 of Mystery Science Theater 3000!
They try to survive the wrath of Pearl
Just an evil gal who wants to rule the world
From her castle below she sets her sights above
Just to torture all her captives on the Satellite of Lo-ove!

Pearl dreams of world domination. She’s so cute. (I think her jacket is better made than mine. My green is a little more reminiscent of her son Clayton’s lab coat, but whatever.)

“I’ll send up cheezy movies
The worst I can find (la la la!)
He’ll have to sit and watch them all
And I’ll monitor his mind!”
You don’t get much more evil than that.
Yeah, so I got to drive around all of yesterday evening wearing this! It was brilliant—I even carried around a purse which I had thrown a few things into, in preparation for chasing Mike across the universe in my rocketship, of course.
Granted, nobody knew who I was (evening's most common question: "So what's the F stand for?"), but who cares. It was fun!
The party itself turned out to be something of a half-assed murder mystery* at the overbooked Castle of Chaos (I’ll bet their full-assed murder mysteries are hella fun, actually) followed by a great party dinner at Jess’s parents’ house. Jess and her family have mastered the foreign-to-me art of partymaking, and they had awesome decorations and great food. Also, they thought my costume was pretty lame until I told them I had made the shirt. I didn’t mention that the hair and makeup took some work, too, because I never wear makeup or even contacts, and I hoped they appreciated how I was going goddamn blind for their party.
I’m definitely keeping this shirt around. You never know when you’ll need to whip out a costume, and Pearl is a good evil one to whip out when I need it.
*A bit of a coincidence, considering my other Halloween plans.**
**No, no actual murder is planned.
