What is your birthstone?
As I understand it, there are all sorts of different standards for birthstones, but the most common is sapphire. I’m assuming it’s blue sapphire.
Do you like your birthstone?
I do love corundum, but in all shades—check the username, after all.
In my first conlang I went on a jewel-naming kick* that featured corundum pretty heavily. I had a list of names for jewel colors. The idea was that the default terms of the jewels were corundum; but if you wanted to describe other jewels you’d use the corundum term as an adjective for another jewel—so that a green corundum is unure and green chrysoberyl is kisul unure. The idea was that the people considered corundum the default jewel.
Metals: Gold or silver?
On me, you mean? Gold looks better.
Platinum or palladium?
I’m going to take a weird left turn and say iridium, which exists in the same group of metals as those two. Iridium compounds can undergo reversible oxygenation and thus could be used as a base for blood—except you have to make sure you don’t expose yourself to too much light because the compound is photosensitive. It’s a less likely blood compound than most others, but it’s possible.
… This has nothing to do with jewelry, because I have absolutely no preference on that score, but I wanted to make this answer interesting somehow.
Bracelet or watch?
Beaded bracelets. I plan to get a pocket watch when I can.
Are you pierced? If so, where? If not, where would you get pierced if you did?
One in the right ear lobe, two in the left. I used to have a helix piercing on my right ear, but it gave me grief** so I let it close. I’ve still got a little knot up there …
Earrings: Dangly, stud, or hoop?
Slave. (They seriously call them Bajoran earrings now? Although I guess “slave” does give a rather bad image …) But I also like studs or danglies.
What kinds of body jewelry do you wear?
Are we talking piercings? ’Cause the ears are it. I always rather fancied that badass thing where you have a nose ring with a chain that connects to your earring, but I don’t think it’s advisable for me to get a nose ring.
What necklace length do you like the best?
Right on the sternum. Long stuff tends to get … er, channeled into the middle and looks a bit silly.
What jewelry style do you prefer: big, chunky, and bohemian or small, slender, and petite?
Depends on my mood, but I seem to look better when my jewelry’s got a bit of heft.
Do you wear rings?
Sometimes. I’ve got a fantastic mermaid ring. I would love to own a tea version of this, but I think even haggling it’d either be too pricey or I’d be ripping her off.

A Teeny Tiny Tom.. A bright orange strand of Zulugrass. A Super Mushroom. A totally badass bracelet I got from that wholesale bead place in Mombasa where the Maasai purportedly get their beads, which is in Halloween colors, y’all. And my wooden steampunk necklace.
Do you prefer colored stones or diamonds?
Colors, most assuredly!
What is your favorite gemstone?
Padparadscha!
Runners-up: Peridot and garnet. I also like me a good chunk of quartz, any color.
What is your favorite precious metal?
Gold’s quite lovely, I must admit.
