Dammit, why did no one tell me about Army of Lovers before? Thank goodness [profile] gondolinchick01is around to fix these things for me. I mean, look at this brilliantly campy video. It’s got something in it for everyone: awesome big dumb stupid music, tiny piano, overwrought headdress, babe with boobs, and an extremely femme European guy dancing around in a bathtub.*

What it has for me is outfits.** I so want Jean-Pierre’s black suit with the pearl drop earring accents. I also enjoy that while my sister and I looked through quite a number of their videos yesterday, we have yet to find a single skirt that appears to have a front. Campy, I tell you!

I am definitely a fan. If the first video I watched didn’t hook me, the second one sure did. The music? Eh, a few good songs. The musicians? ROCK ON.

*I love how emo he is about it, too. Like, “Life is hard, here in this bathtub.”

**Possibly because I have a character who would totally wear this sort of junk all the time, when she wasn’t wearing something else outrageous. Except she also tends to paint her face in impressive ways depending on how she’s feeling. A true artiste, that one.

Normally I enjoy Magellan as a generally pretty good comic by a very thorough and very earnest author, but Saturday’s installment* is incredible. In a stunning display of perceptiveness and diplomacy, Kaycee managed to stick a dagger into every single chink in Miasma’s psychological armor, and she did it in a completely inoffensive way. The body image thing is brilliant. And she doesn’t know that Miasma’s looking at the smoking corpse of her boyfriend-in-the-past, who has just been murdered by his crazed drugged up megalomaniacal future self—but that’s going to make it all the more effective in cracking her.

I don’t think even Batman could have come up with that.** Bravo, Stephen Crowley! And bravo, Kaycee!

*You will not understand it unless you’ve read all of Magellan, which requires a subscription to Graphic Smash; I merely put the link there for reference. However, I highly recommend doing that anyway because it also hosts Ursula Vernon’s Digger.

**Bats would still have totally saved the world, but he might not have done it the same way.
