Things You Never Expected To Hear Yourself Say:

“PRESENT FIGHT!”

Today’s quote brought to you by the puffy gifts we opened on Christmas Eve, which were, by tradition, pajamas. Except this time we didn’t tear them open, exactly: we bopped each other with them until the paper split.

It’s like a combination of piñatas and presents! We should do this every year!

Anyway, now I have a lot more books than before, including a bunch of juvenile fiction books* and language books. I’ve even got a book on Hawaiian!

Off to learn that, and then read Fairest, while I watch Dad and Mom beat each other up on Wii Sports, a sight I never thought I’d see. They thought making the little Mii characters was awesome, and now they're doing battle using these new little avatars. Later, we have an Animaniacs DVD set to watch.

Don’t wait up for us.

*I keep telling people that it’s because I plan to be an author, but partly it’s just because I think some of the best writing comes from that genre.

That sounded like so much fun. My family has our own quirky little tradition. My grandpa wraps up our money envelopes in really random stuff. I came out with about thirty packs of ramen, my cousins got boxes full of popped popcorn, my family-in-law got theirs in Maui magazines, and my brother got a moldy pineapple. We all had to dig, with exception of my brother, for our gifts.

Although a pajama present fight really seems to be quite awesome. Enjoy your new pj's!

I enjoyed Fairest a lot, although I have to admit that to my mind nothing she's written quite reaches Ella Enchanted's pinnacle. I love that book.

Which other books did you get? I do half my shopping in that section, I'm wondering if I missed anything good that came out recently.

I ended up with Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris, which I described to my parents as "Hannibal Lector: The College Years." It's not as good as Silence of the Lambs, but interesting.
