Ah, someone else reminiscing about the glory days of LiveJournal.

I do miss the community, and the golden age of Metaquotes. But I still post here. Good way to make sure nobody ever reads what I write, I guess.* I know everyone migrated, first to Dreamwidth (is that still a thing?) and then to Tumblr, but I'm really bad at changing venues. Hell, I still have a HOTMAIL account as my main email.** I'd say I'm already bitching about the Kids These Days, but to be fair I've been bitching about them since I was six years old. (And anyway, Tumblr's layout is bullshit. I never realized how well-set-up LJ's comment system was until I tried to figure out Tumblr's.)

Ah, well. Even if the site itself is never restored to its former glory, its legacy lasts. I've met a lot of good friends on here who I keep up with through other networks. And I even went to Chicago last year to attend the wedding of someone I met on here! So even if all we have are memories, my goodness, we have memories.

And I'll still keep posting here. It's hard to get me to change, You may have noticed.

*Just kidding! Those of you who are still around are great.

**I keep trying to get rid of it, but it's so much easier just to keep the damn thing.

LJ has the best comment system I've ever seen. But a good comment system doesn't mean much when most of the people I'd want to discuss things with aren't on that platform anymore :P

I do like tumblr, but I like it for different reasons than LJ. I keep meaning to start posting over here again, but whenever I open that window, it all goes right out of my mind. Tumblr's easier to just sort of stream-of-consciousness little bits into.

I still squat here and watch the tumbleweeds rollin'. I always thought of LJ as kind of a system of interconnected personal forums, which was really nice. It's too bad that people have moved on.

Tumblr is good for curating a collection of pictures, but fuckall terrible for having a coherent conversation, really.

Dreamwidth still exists, but I'm not sure what the difference between it and LJ is. It has an identical feel. Bitching about broken things does eventually get human attention, but it takes a few weeks. So I'm a die hard LJ-er, although I also have a Facebook account. So very many people have migrated there. It's a pain in the ass set up but it has it's uses.

I still hop on to read most days. I've just gotten really lazy about posting. Between being tired, life being so much more day-to-day boring, and so few people reading, not as much seems worth the effort of posting.

I don't post on LJ any more, but I'm continuing to read my friendspage. At least until they discontinue the friendspage and force the feed view. I literally cannot read the feed view, at least the last version I saw. It just does not work with my dyslexia and whatnot.
Then I guess I'll have to visit individual journals and hope they don't take away the customization on those too... (which I think they plan to, eventually)

It seems like a lot of the stuff about rabid (and sad) puppies I've read has been on Livejournal.
