1. Thanks. Although I came up with the concepts for them, kobi_lacroix and soryane are to thank for their execution. 2. In the Rainbow Room, following the showdown between boho-klepto-gambler otter Bridges and a mute carp-clam hacker, after he's slashed her remote control sai to pieces, he drops his three swords and begins to ask her in sign language who she is, what she wants, why she does what she does, whether she's really happy in the relationship she's in or not. This is the first time she doesn't have to use her sight and hearing-sharing mindlink with her girlfriend and intercoms to talk to people through, the first really private conversation she can have with anyone in years, because for all of her fighting and case winning prowess, her beloved sightless angler doesn't speak sign language. Bridges then discovers that a lawyer's judgement doesn't necessarily turn itself off when she leaves the courtoom, and that while there's nothing wrong with being mute, there can be some real disadvantages to being unable to really talk back. 3. ^.^ 4. Thank you. Not everyone appreciates that. 5. Heheh. I'm no Dr. Polaski, but technological progress actually benefits from having its limits pointed out to it when they're being voiced reasonably and taken seriously, and the complex nuances linguistics are typically regretfully easy to gloss over/oversimplify in the minds of people who haven't really looked at them. 6. That's a first, and it intrigues me. May I ask why? 7. Well, for one thing, she loves to hunt. She doesn't like other cats or different animals coming into our yard, and her territoriality remind me of some Americans' attitude toward immigrants. She's always trying to go on other yards to mark the trees on them also, and her expansionist policy reminds us of the current administration also. She has a tendency to pick fights even when she has no chance of winning just on general principle. She eats almost exclusively meat even though I won't touch the stuff, and showing off how picky she is is important enough to waste food in a way in which I don't think I'd like to let myself do so. She's very attached to her creature comforts and doesn't like to share all that much, especially with people who she feels haven't earned what she's earned. 8. We'll see. :>
