Why doesn't Worf's name follow Klingon phonology?

Hm.

The Thing in the Empire we don't talk about, from the Tribbles redux episode? Changed things from the K naming conventions?

Or he was an orphan and only knew part of his name and there were no records?

Been too long since I watched Trek.

Worf anglicized* his name because he spent most of his childhood among humans?

* Russianized? I don't know what language Worf's adopted parents spoke, only that they had Russian accents. Wikipedia informs me that Worf lived both on a Federation colony as well as Earth with his adopted family.

Something to do with the Whorf-Sapir hypothesis, I think.

Because Whorf-Worf jokes never get old!
