Just finished The Human Division. DAMMIT SCALZI WHY YOU GOTTA LEAVE ME HANGIN'

So, yeah, awesome and funny and dammit I want more. So far always true with him.

I am also hoping that it'll make the episodic format of Doctors! easier for publishers to swallow. I've been worried about that for years.

I know Amazon is also putting serials on the Kindle (I have one from Seanan McGuire) if that helps.

If I could ask: why not self-publish Doctors in e-book format? After all, a little income is better than no income, and you do have a small group of readers here... if the story is any good at all (which I'm sure it is), I think you'd have no trouble attracting a readership. Some independent authors (like MCA Hogarth / [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar) have done pretty decently for themselves that way, and I'd much rather be able to read their work and enjoy it and be part of the fan community *now* than hear endlessly about their frustrations trying to publish it "officially" and be unable to help.

I really don't know why there is such a stigma around e-publishing - I feel far more connected to my favorite indie authors, who take time to interact with and learn from their fans, than any "real" author out there... and I think the books are much more satisfying, too.

*grin* I get that question a lot.

Part of it is just The Dream--I have been planning to get published since I was seven years old. But also, I am really not savvy enough to do it on my own. I like a lot of self-published and e-published authors, but I am not a very good strategist for selling my own. I think I need a hand in that department.

Also because at this point I am giving Doctors! a MASSIVE overhaul, and I'm nowhere near done with it yet. Once I get the manuscript actually set up the way I like it, THEN I get to look around for agents again.
