If I could ask: why not self-publish Doctors in e-book format? After all, a little income is better than no income, and you do have a small group of readers here... if the story is any good at all (which I'm sure it is), I think you'd have no trouble attracting a readership. Some independent authors (like MCA Hogarth / [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar) have done pretty decently for themselves that way, and I'd much rather be able to read their work and enjoy it and be part of the fan community *now* than hear endlessly about their frustrations trying to publish it "officially" and be unable to help.

I really don't know why there is such a stigma around e-publishing - I feel far more connected to my favorite indie authors, who take time to interact with and learn from their fans, than any "real" author out there... and I think the books are much more satisfying, too.
