Same as anywhere else--allergies. I must have touched something with an allergen and then rubbed my eye. Lucky me.

Oh dears. I had a similar experience -- turns out you can get hives on the soles of your feet. And just there. It is misery wrapped in agony with horrible on top. But the eye thing also sounds like a whole lot of Not Fun.
