bloodyrosemccoyHey, guys! Check it out! I totally had a birthday—and I got treasure to prove it! And now, here on my journal, I am going to share it with you!
First, check out this—the most fortuitous birthday card ever. My co-worker was absolutely thrilled to find it.
The greatest treasure of all—books! The first two of Ursula Vernon’s Dragonbreath books, the unphotographable Beka Cooper: Terrier by Tamora Pierce, and Scalzi’s entire Old Man’s War series in convenient paperback form, so’s I can read them into pulp. All from Dad.
More book! WITH SHINY PICTURES.
I don’t care what Bryan Konietzko says, the pig hybrids are HILARIOUS.
And Chibi Zuko and Iroh. Hee Zuko is a cranky teenager.
I bought this with some birthday money. It’s a holiday-ish edition with some nifty features—not just tiny little Servo.
Night of the Blood Beast is one of my favorite riffs with one of my favorite shorts, and the TD version’s much better than the normal host segments. (Although Crow insisting he was pregnant was pretty entertaining.) And Santa Claus may not be as notorious as their other Christmas crackfest, but it is just as cracky. Santa Claus vs. the Devil, with added WTF international caricatures!

kadharonon used her amazing yarnbending to make me RAINBOW MERMAID GLOVES. They are soft and fabulous and when it gets cold in my room this winter I will have warm arms and be able to type!
Also, I will look terrific!

Hey, what didacrossthelake and i_blaze_the get me? A giant book?
No! It’s a box! For keeping jewelry in, since I don’t have a gun to hide in it.
Miscellanies. Box is from my close-by aunt, although it’s another thing I couldn’t photograph. The key is from my sister, who wants to help with my still-burgeoning attempt at making Magpie Necklaces. The fabrics are from my aunt for doll clothes.
And Dad’s Big Gift to me:
No, no—the one on the right—my Precious, a Wii of my own! Finally I get to play all my games again! Also, I finally have caught up to my own dolls for updated consoles. Little buggers live better than I do.
Anyway, I think I will go play some Super Mario Brothers Wii now—or, rather, in a minute. First, I’ve got one more thing to show you:

These are no ordinary peppers, my friends! These are GOTH PEPPERS. These are the kinds of bell peppers that sit around writing poetry about bleeding black rose petals from alabaster skin into a lake of tears or driving nails into Kewpie dolls to add atmosphere to their velvet-draped bedrooms. “Purple Beauties,” they’re called, but they’re working their damndest with what nature can give them to be the deep black of despairing, endless night.
I am dying to find out what they taste like.
