I remember reading about hardcore Holmesologists (not sure they call themselves exactly that, I'm translating from French), and was impressed by how serious a fandom it is. I'm not sure how they feel about this kind of fiction, but this one sounds really well-made, from what you say. I'll keep it in mind.
