The question of "Why is McCoy on the bridge?" should just be summoned up by "He just is. Get over it." Prime!McCoy was always there, why would Reboot!McCoy be any different. Besides, who else would be there to antagonize Spock at every turn :D
And really, Mike? REALLY? If you want change, make them all straight xD
(Although, if you want to go slashwise, while Spock/Kirk was the main for the TOS, the reboot is seriously throwing some Bones/Kirk signals. Just sayin)
