People seem to believe that your job is detached from your morals. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve refused to pursue a job recommendation due to moral reasons and been told, “Well, so what if you’re opposed to it? It’s a job.” And people wonder how war crimes happen.

I'm always shocked and saddened by this. Then I'm shocked and saddened by the current crop of pharmascists who have figured out taht they have personal responsibility to their own ethical standards, but don't seem to realise that that means they should QUIT THEIR JOB. If you think part of your job is evil, get a new job. Better yet, don't start in the first place.

Perhaps humanity needs to work on this as some kind of simply worded rule.
"Doing something unethical because you were instructed to by someone in authority/the hand with the paycheck does not relieve you of responsibility" and the currently abused corrolary "If you are unwilling to perform the duties for which you are paid because they are unethical, it is also unethical to continue accepting the paycheck."
