• Been knuckling, stumping, scampering, and ponytail-hovering my way through Donkey Kong 64 again. This is my solution to problems of brain chemistry. Remember all that garbage about how computervideogames were like THE DRUGS because they stimulated dopamine surges in your reward center? They were talking about THIS VERY GAME. SOON I WILL HAVE ALL THE GOLDEN BANANAS, BANANA FAIRIES, REGULAR BANANAS, CROWNS, KEYS, CRYSTAL COCONUTS, AND ARCADE COINS AHAHAHAHAHA.
• Also, Lanky Kong = my early inspiration for the armwalking rúmečilú from the Doctors! stories. You have just had an embarrassing insight into what all goes into the Giant Idea Eggbeater inside my head.
• I found a dojang that had ties with my old, now defunct one, and get to go check it out tomorrow. The master I talked to was very concerned that I would not be able to find it. I suspect he may have seen me do forms before when we’d have people from his dojang come to ours, and thus knows just how very spatially competent I am.
• I can has job interview! It’s for one o’ those giant bookstores. You know the ones. I am not sure what the interview will be, but I suspect it will go something like this:
INTERVIEWER: So, tell me, what do you think qualifies you for this job?
AMELIA: My house is filled with books!
INTERVIEWER: I see. Well, we’re looking for specific—
AMELIA: No, seriously, do you want some? We have not seen one of our cats in days.
• I have finally taken the plunge and gotten myself some basic beading tools. Every time I go into a craft store I look wistfully at the stuff there for wire bead jewelry, and I just decided god dammit it’s time to quit being wistful. Plus, I just cruised around Etsy and drooled over things like this. Specifically, a wish that I could make things like that.
• I've been getting some good writing done by promising myself I can poke at the story of the aliens whose lives brush up against the lives of my Doctors! when I'm done with some Doctors! stuff. I started referring to it as "Romeo and Juliet and Space Pirates." I am enjoying it immensely.
• If you haven’t seen it yet, College Humor’s We Didn’t Start The Flamewar. NSFW and offensive language, but it sure captures the more embarrassing aspects of intertube culture.
