DOLLS: SRS BZNS
Dec. 28th, 2008 01:50 amToday at work a girl of about eight came in with her mother—and she was carrying a Brand New Kaya Doll.
I think I lost all my salesgirl professionalism while I admired the kid’s doll and told her about how I had a Molly from back when there were only five. She stared at me uncomprehendingly when I said that but was very happy that I recognized Kaya.
Anyway, YOU GUYS HOLY OPTIMUS CHRIST WE HAVE NEW LIMITED EDITION AMERICAN GIRL DOLL, courtesy my evil informants! (Photo stolen from
bean_bunny.)

From left to right: some blond chick, some brunette chick,* and EEE SONALI THE “SOUTH ASIAN” DOLL. Way to go, AG, she’s pretty!
You guys, I want the hell out of this girl. I’m considering making her Swahili. The hair might have to be redone, but the face is right—there’s a lot of diversity in Swahili faces.
It’s been a good AG day. I realize not a whole lot of you care, but this is important shit, dudes.
*The brunette chick's movie actually looks like it wouldn't be an awful family movie--all about overcoming bullies and whatnot with self-empowerment. But the Limited Edition dolls so far are disappointingly homogeneous.
