When did the hold noise change from annoying Muzak to annoying Muzak interspersed with recordings telling you how awesome the company you’re on hold for is?  I spent about twenty minutes on hold today getting told that that particular insurance company was the greatest ever, and that I'm the greatest ever, and now they're even more available, and someone would be with me shortly.

 

Then it told me that if I ever—I swear-to-god—find myself with “an object in my eye,” I should call them to find out which emergency ward would cover it. Doesn’t it make you feel good that they’re always there to help?

 

Also, you know what’s an unfortunate term? “Pain specialist.” Would you go to one if you didn’t know what he was? Yeah, neither would I.
