Oh yes, I understand that too. But, I also had to deal with an almost opposite pain in on English class. You see, this teacher believed firmly in reading with expression, and would make students read it over and over until they got it to an acceptable level. Meant students like me would read it one, maybe two times until they got it right. While I had to listen to some other students read it over and over. Students who couldn't understand the punctuation, or the fact that characters are in a sense real people and sometimes happy or sometimes sad or sometimes mad, and the book lets you know. That means voices have expression and inflection, not flat monotone.
