How much sound, and of what type/articulation, can a person made if their tongue has been cut out? (assume there's been healing time).
It's a violently nasty, slightly spooky thing that I've seen a few authors use (GRR Martin, for ex), but they usually say that these people are silent, and I'm calling bull. They could make some kind of noise.
The character I'm asking about is a sweetheart, by the way, and totally didn't deserve what was done to him. I'm hoping he finds a girlfriend...poor guy's had it rough. :)
