So on Thursday I was in the Craft Center, making handles for a couple of mugs, and all of a sudden, a klaxon went off somewhere behind me.

A familiar klaxon.

I blinked and spun around to see a guy pulling his phone from his bag.

“Did … did you just go to Red Alert?” I asked.

He nodded sheepishly.

“That’s awesome,” I said, and he answered the call.

It’s fun when geeks meet.

Which is precisely why I wish I could set my ringtone to the sound of an angered murloc. MRGHLGHLGLKGH! And then as the rings continued...oh, I'm a WoW dork.

That's awesome! My husband keeps talking about getting the TARDIS sound for his ringtone but hasn't done it yet. I've got a boring one, and if I got anything, it would be an old fashioned phone ringing. The coolest one I ever heard was a sonar ping. Freaky because it was my office mate's and she'd left her phone in the office and I had no idea what that sound was 'til I tracked it down to her bag. She's a diver, so the sonar made sense. Very cool, though!

I have Super Mario Classic for my general ring tone, Legend of Zelda overworld for my husband, who is a huge Zelda fan, and the Sesame Street yip yip aliens for my best friend. The yip yip ringtone gets the best stunned looks from others.

I had the old-fashioned phone ring for a while. But the sonar ping is awesome.

Hooray for the Yip Yips!

My MOTHER had Classic Mario for a while, which got a lot more fun responses than when someone my age had it. Here's a middle-aged woman with her kids' old game going.

I knew someone who had the Legend of Zelda You Solved A Puzzle riff on his phone. Every time it went off, I had a surge of dopamine. Good times.

I had ringtones on my old phone, but the Razr uses the ringtone for text messages from the person as well as for calls, and since the people I would want ringtones for are the same people who send me text messages, it would get annoying right darn quick.

The Spouse's old Kyocera flip phone had an optional opening sound. One of the options was "Dolphin". I am not sure entirely WHY they named it that, since I have never heard a cetacean that sounded like a communicator chirp.

LOL! I love it. That would be my ringtone for when my mother calls...
