The Joy Of Miniatures

In retrospect, it was probably a bad idea for me to discover Iwako food erasers. While I don’t exactly have that much I need to erase, I do feel that their size is relevant to my interests.

Also, because HOLY DAMN they’re stinkin’ cute-as-Chekov.

Curiously, the Japanese-ness of most of these little buggers reminds me of life in Oregon, chillin’ with the Japanese students and let’s not forget the Japanophiles. Ah, fondly do I recall the buckets of ramen, the delicious anko pancakes, the chocolate dicks mushrooms, the ridiculous labels in kanji and kana … And if not the sushi itself, then the fact that it was there was kind of nice, because Salt Lake did not go for those forn foods so much.*

Mostly, though, these things are just damn cute. I don’t know if you can resist itty bitty milkshakes, ramen buckets, and soda cans, but I sure as hell can’t.

*Now they have sushi in the grocery stores, but it’s still bad.

. . . and there was the Sharing of the Link, and lo, the Sharing was Evil, for now I am obsessed with the cute and I don't even have dolls to give me an excuse.

Curse you and your Evil Sharing!

Muhahahaha! EMBRACE THE KAWAII.

And I never use the word kawaii.

Although really, I'm not sure if the dolls are an excuse or a much bigger problem.

Explain yourself, woman.

I got hooked on a Japanese snack they had at the campus grocery. They were little bite-size confections with a biscuit shaft and a chocolate cap. They were clearly supposed to be mushrooms, but everyone who saw them first reached a different conclusion as to what they represented. So they became known as the chocolate dicks, and there was much cackling whenever they were consumed.

Mmm, phallic Japanese mushrooms. *Homer drool*
