Food!

The traditional: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, MY GOD THE YAMS, and green beans with mushrooms. Nobody drank wine because Dad’s on call, and he’s really the wine guy—I always drink grape juice anyway, like I’m Mormon or some shit, and if Dad doesn’t bring out the wine Mom forgets about it.

What did you have for dinner tonight?

(Yes, not just the US folks … I like hearing about food, okay?)

Incidentally, my b/f and I had actually gotten frozen turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving months ago that he'd never gotten around to cooking, and it happened to be the last cookable thing in the freezer earlier today. So since it's not Thanksgiving up here, and we're not big on holiday tropes anyway, he said "This isn't a Thanksgiving turkey. This is my everyday turkey." I got creamed corn and mashed potatoes out of it, to go with my Chinese tofu leftovers.

Hee! Y'know, I'd be all for everyday turkey--leftover turkey is one of the best snacks there is.

I would love to have the kind of meal we did on a regular basis. Meat, mushrooms, bread, root vegetables. I'd be all over that any day.
