THAT Didn't Pan Out

So I quit the internship at the museum.

Well, maybe “quit” is a bit of a misnomer, since it implies that I really started the internship in the first place. And the whole reason I quit was because they were expecting me to be working, but hadn’t given me anything to work with--when your job is data entry, you really need some place to enter the data. The bureaucrats at the top level, however, were more concerned with making me properly apply for the job I’d already been hired for, and write out the database by hand while they dithered about getting me a computer, and other such nonsense.

So I very politely told them that maybe they ought to get their shit together before hiring anybody next time, and good luck with that, and Amelia is out, PEACE. And now I’m looking for a job again.

At least I got a gift shop discount out of the deal, though. God DAMN, I love gift shops. So that’s always nice.

I attempted to start my new job as a sandwich maker at a fancy bistro at Sweden's biggest airport a couple of days ago. I got there at 04:40 in the morning, after a sleepless night, only to find that they had no idea I was coming. And you can't just waltz through airport security when there's no one on the other side waiting for you, so after some confusion I went back home again. Though I stopped to buy some nice plants for my parents' eyesore of a garden on the way home, so the morning wasn't a complete write- off.

I'm now waiting for someone to call and give me a proper start date, and until then I'm just chillin' and trying to do something about the state of the plantlife in this household. I suppose I should stop spending my tax return on plants until I know I'll actually have some income soon, but damnit Jim I'm a garden enthusiast, not some kind of sensible person!

Also, gift shops are awesome. Especially natural history ones.

Also also, your icon reminds me of the fact that I bought a Dalek figurine today. Yay Dalek!

Ah, the joys of employment. Here's hoping the snafu is easily sorted out!

I discovered a couple years ago that the Art Supply Store Demon has a twin in the Garden Supply Store. I go in and suddenly I become CRAZY. Hooray for enthusiasts!

Oof, sorry to hear that. :(

Not meaning to diminish the unpleasantness of what happened, but, I can't help but think, I love the walk-out. And the part about the gift shop reminds me of
Dr Katz: You've been fired, why are you so happy, Ben?
Ben: Because I'm out of a job. I'm free! Plus I ran off with a bag full of baked goods.

Eh, it was not terribly unpleasant, just annoying. Although I was a lot more polite in the actual walk-out because I am a CLASSY MOTHERFUCKER.

Plus I ran off with a bag full of baked goods.

And that's terrible.

(Don't know what the dialogue is from, but that's what I always think of when the theft of baked goods is brought up.)

That's a bummer. Hope your next find works out better!

I'm really sorry that did not work out. People who want to put the cart before the horse is really a problem when you're the horse. Good on you for not agreeing to push the cart, rather than pull it.
