A Thing That Has Worried Me For Years

I really hope the Kakariko Village well is just for show.

Yes, that is creepy isn't it. Of course, that line of thinking also leads one to wonder where, since the well doesn't tap an aquifer, the water came from; or where everyone in Hyrule gets their food, clothes, money, etc.

I could say that it's DIFFERENT because blah blah blah video game world blah blah farms probably just offscreen past those hills blee blah and the well is only worrisome because it's THERE so I THINK ABOUT IT--but honestly, I wonder about the other stuff, too.

I also worry about the sustainability of Skyloft. BECAUSE.

Skyloft is easy. Everyone eats pumpkins. Obviously the same magic that keeps the islands afloat and provides an infinitely-replenishing pond and waterfall makes the ground super-fertile, so that just a few dozen square yards of farmland is enough for everybody. The loftwings probably eat those annoying rupee-carrying birds,

*grin* That was what I figured, too--it works because GODDESS MAGIC. Because trying to figure out another possibility was rather useless.

When we first played that level, my little brother asked "So...does /our/ well have dead people at the bottom?"

I could only answer "I....hope not?"

That actually reminds me of part of Mrs Bovary, of all things. I remember there's a character who's growing a field of something edible like crops or vegetables right next to a graveyard, and people are telling him "You're eating the dead, sir!" or something to that effect.

... Now combined with my current life situation I can't help but think, maybe that's what's been wrong with our water for all this time. *shudders*

You know, I'd completely unbothered by that, because of all the nice composting processes in the middle there. But it is a good point!
