Sweet Clyde! Laugh Derisively At Him.

Oh, terrific. With geniuses like these, it’s going to be a real party to try to sell the OGYAFE. The only white characters in there are a librarian and a cat.

I feel it is important to point and laugh at bigoted dumbasses. When people behave ridiculously, I think they deserve to be ridiculed. Dumb bastardry has to be shown for what it is.

I admit, I have not even bothered to read The Hunger Games. I just don’t DO dystopia. I like to read about worlds that may not be perfect, but which are at least places I wouldn’t mind hanging out in. But I am glad it’s so well-liked, because from what I understand, it’s a pretty good YA franchise.* So hey, good job, Hunger Games! And don’t let the racists get you down.

*Although even bad franchises may spawn awesome things. You can’t tell me the world isn’t a better place now that Growing Up Cullen exists.

Yup, I have no desire to see or read a dystopia but yay for a franchise that features women and people of color!

The racist fans need a thwacking with a big stick.

*grin* Yeah, I was thinking of TLA, too. AND YET even with racism, it seems that casting actual people of color for the characters of color did not turn Hunger Games into a box office bomb! Dear TLA casting jerks: your argument is invalid.

But...but...but...everybody knows men won't see movies with women in the lead role! And everybody knows white people won't see movies that aren't white as the driven snow!

And everybody has the IQ of a flea. ::snort::

Indeed, Sweet Clyde.

I haven't read the books or seen the movie, but even I know how, er, colorful all the characters always were.
These commenters... have they lost their minds? Oh right. They have. In abandoned luggage bags at airports along with their compassion, empathy, and inclusion.
Yeesh.

Times like this, I yearn for a hostile robot takeover.
"So rebel, my pretties! And conquer the planet!"
*button push* Conquer Earth, you bastards!"
"Conquer Earth, us bastards!"

"Dumb bastards."

Jerkwad bigots make me sick to my ass.

Ugh. "You mean I wasted time feeling sorry for a black person?" *headdesk*

Never read The Hunger Games (never even heard of it until the movie posters started appearing...kinda wish the same was true of Twilight), but the "teenagers-forced-to-kill-each-other-for-the-TV-audience" premise seems suspiciously close to that of Battle Royale.

BTW, just borrowed Un Lun Dun from the library. I liked Perdido Street Station so I have high hopes for Mieville's YA novel.

suspiciously close to that of Battle Royale.
That was my first thought as well!

Been enjoying it so far!

Binjas, hee...

I guess this means I'm wasting my time whenever I'm watching anything with straight protagonists.

Which reduces my options somewhat.

Good lord. Some people...

Most TV and movie roles could easily be played by actors of any race, sex, gender, orientation, yet we see so *little* diversity. It floors me we've made so little progress in that direction. I feel like I'm back in my childhood again.. and not a good way at all.

Edward as a 40 year old mother is the FUNNIEST thing I've read in a long time! Thank you for this piece of gem, thank you, thank you!
