In Case You Haven't Seen It Yet ...

Turn Bueaty Inside Out Day (Amelia sez: really, this is how it was spelled. Maybe this means you should judge people by the beauty of their internal organs? “What a magnificent spleen!”)
UN World Telecommunication Day
Anniversary - 1st US Same-Sex Marriage
Birthday - Mia Hamm (soccer)
Constitution Day (Norway)

How out-of-hand is sexist pro-life getting, you ask?

Now the health recommendations they make are valid for anybody. Except for the folic acid supplement, who shouldn’t “refrain from smoking, maintain a healthy weight and keep chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes under control”? I mean, isn’t that recommended for, like everybody, not just son-producing women? They are good health recommendations. Adding in the bit that it's all about hypothetical future fetuses is … well, I probably don’t need to tell you what I think of that.

They’re making it awfully hard for me to keep my cool …

In other news, I have a new friend:

Laugh, you squares!

EDIT: It would appear that a lot of the inflammatory language is specifically a product of the Washington Post and their crack squad of savvy, motivated personnel.  I refer you to the link in my comments by [profile] enigmania.

But the fact that anybody would think that ...

"New federal guidelines ask all females capable of conceiving a baby to treat themselves -- and to be treated by the health care system -- as pre-pregnant, regardless of whether they plan to get pregnant anytime soon."

I plan on getting pregnant never! Suck it federal guidelines! GAH!

Oh, and I appreciate it when you bring these things to our attention, even if they make us irate, because I don't pay nearly as much attention to the news as I really ought to.

Wow that's really scary 0.0 I'm curious to know why the infant mortality rate is higher here, though. There should be some way to fix that without all of this crap. 0.0

What's really fun is that, by and large, the actual CDC report is focused on how couples need to plan for pregnancies -- and it's the WaPo that put the PrePregnant spin on it.

While the article is all freaky, do check out the Bitch, PhD(who I love SO MUCH) follow-up about the report it discusses:

Duly noted.

The Washington Post is basically Fox News in newspaper form.

Anniversary - 1st US Same-Sex Marriage

W00t! :>

On a side note, scientists need to mass-produce and mass-distribute perfectly functional artificial wombs so that the many people who seem to perceive them as that will realize that they don't have to do so anymore. -_-
