Adventures In Book Shelving

Historic Moments In Library Aiding

Today was the first day I ever got followed around by a couple of hovery patrons while I shelved the fiction cart.

Granted, they were looking for Dan Brown and Nora Roberts, respectively, but still. It wasn’t DVDs!

Also, I picked up a small satellite while putting the kids’ DVDs away, in the form of a five-year-old girl telling me stuff. I now know everything relevant to her interests: how many stuffed animals she has, which water swides she can go down at Raging Waters and which are too big for her, when she’ll turn six, that her dad got a new house, and that her favorite colors are pink and popul. My co-worker pointed and laughed all day as I’d wander by with a book truck followed by my enthusiastically autobiographical buddy.

Eh, it’s a tradeoff for the days I can enjoy a nice quiet block of shelving. I enjoy it while it lasts.

5-year-olds are the BEST. XD

Hee hee! I always thought it was a cruel twist of fate that gave that color a really hard name to pronounce.

Oh, it was probably done on purpose so that we can hear the cute mispronunciations. Ditto with "yellow".
