Is it sad that I saw a picture of this restaurant theme and immediately knew who had designed it?

Oh, HR Giger. Never stop being your creepy, macabre, bonkers self.

Nah.

HR has his style firmly set.

Have you ever seen pics of his house?

[identity profile] padparadscha.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. BONKERS, I say.

Not that that's a bad thing.

I remember when my friend and I were checking out pictures of the Harkonnen chairs, I opined that I'd have trouble having one in my house--I'd suspect it of moving around at night. I had the same problem with the idea of a Giger tattoo--even though one of the coolest tattoos I've ever seen was of a chestburster depicted actually bursting from the guy's chest. That was something.

Can you find pics of his house? I'm not having any luck

'Fraid not anymore. This was 2 years ago that I was looking at 'em.

comment is worthless without pictures :)

Funky. Reminds me of this. The wiki article doesn't have any of the really cool pictures. *quick google* Here's a gallery.

Where is it? I want to go!

[identity profile] chibicharibdys.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Do want.

OK, so apparently Mssr Giger is a one trick pony. But, man oh man, what a trick. :)

That looks like a real family oriented place. Hell, I'd round up the kids and take 'em there for a fun time. Looks like a blast-o-rama!

In honor of this post, I saw Aliens for the first time last night.

... Okay, maybe it was really more because the boy is trying desperately to fill what he calls my "moviehole", which until last night had no Alien movie at all in it.

But sending him that link was certainly a factor!

[identity profile] padparadscha.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aliens--the second one? Where Bill Paxton spends the whole movie yelling "GAME OVER MAN" and Ripley goes all Ripley on the Alien Queen's ass to save a small but very cool little girl? That is an AWESOME movie.

I hope you liked it, too!

I hate to break it to you, but that's pretty recognizably his style. ;-)

[identity profile] padparadscha.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sure, but is it sad? That he's so set in his style, or that I am familiar with it, or anything? :)

[identity profile] pixel39.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really, no. *grins*

My big brother can identify any Billy Joel song by the first chord. My consort and I can fairly reliably identify the country of origin for most 13th century illuminations. It's just a different form of media geeking, is all.

And like it or not, you're a geek. ;-)

um... something tells me that Giger decor is not the best thing to improve the appetite of your customers, cool as it may be.
