Then It Sinks In

Holy Thursday (Christian)
Maundy Thursday (Christian)
National Alcohol Screening Day
National Fun at Work Day
Birthday - Booker T. Washington (educator)
National Tomb-Sweeping Day/Qing Ming Festival (China)
National Tomb-Sweeping Day (Taiwan)

I got an e-mail today saying I’ve been officially accepted into the Kenya study abroad program. It says I need to get my medical shit together,* but that for all intents and purposes, I’m in.

I think I’m actually going to Kenya this fall.

I’m going to Kenya. You know. The place where you can see lions.

I have a history of making things impossible. My whole family does. The most we can put together is a week in Moab or Yellowstone. Once chaos theory took over and we somehow managed to go to Disneyworld. But not usually. I’ve never even been to Canada or Mexico. I’ve barely been past Chicago.

But I think I’m going to Kenya.

This is the first time I’ve dared to actually believe it. Let’s hope I have a reason to.

*Apparently, the yellow fever shot makes you sick. This is the opposite of what shots are supposed to do.

Quote of the Day, Phonology Division

“If you were to remove all the silent letters in a French novel, how much shorter would it be?”

Today’s quote brought to you by [profile] jadewing, who would make this the one question she would ask God if she could.
