On my mother's side, I have my biological grandparents, Dave and Susy. Susy died before I was born, and since Dave was an abusive Alcoholic, my great grandmother legally adopted my mother. That's three maternal grandparents. Grandma Ada had Four or five husbands, I forget which, but let's just say four. That brings my legal maternal grandparentage to seven. Then, we switch over to my father's side. Max and Virginia. But then Virginia died, and married Alice. That's TEN. However, my parents split up and then both remarried. So, my stepfather's biological parents, plus his stepfather, brings the total up to 13. Then on my stepnun's side, we have her biological parents, of which Nana is still alive.
So of 15 grandparents, three remaining are alive, of which NONE of them are related to me by blood. All of my biological grandparents were gone by the time I reached High School.
