DW is pretty much LJ, uses the same basic code and whatnot. The biggest selling point, for me, is that it retains customizability, where LJ is forcing changes that make itself more tumblr-esque, and taking away customization in a way that makes the site literally unreadable to a lot of people with visual problems and learning disabilities and such.
