... I reacted to GRRM the same way I did to this book. "Okay, his prose isn't bad, but why is this such a big hairy deal?"

Rothfuss seems to have forgotten the essential point of a bildungsroman story is that there is some CHANGE in the protagonist. And I think he was trying to parody some tropes (such as the charges the university's always levelling against him), but it just came off a little forced and, well, hipster.
