Get A Grip

Some kind of weird injury in my hand is causing me to drop things. I don't think it's actual hand weakness; I think it's just that the little pain spasms when I try to grip things are making my hand pop open reflexively. I'm not sure how I got it, but I suspect I've been weeding the garden and supporting myself on my knuckles. Whatever it is, it's sure as hell making things awkward at work.

People wonder why I never wear open-toe shoes to work even in summer. It's because dropping a huge coffee table book on your foot? Really painful. I'm not about to add injury to injury here.

That's my guess, too. It's just a weirder kind of tendinitis than I've ever had--I'm used to going "Ow! Pain! I will stop doing that now!" but not to my hand dropping things without checking with my brain first. That's new--and it is strange not to be able to quickly pinpoint whether a sensation was a reflex or weakness.

Yeah, that's how my tendinitis started at first. Totally freaked me out.
