So! Guess who’s not going to Kenya this fall?

Spring, however, is a different story.

Apparently the applications had a bit of a discrepancy about when you actually should sign up for this program, so I was a bit too late. After my patented Melodramatic 40-Second Overreaction, I decided that I was not late for the fall deadline, but in fact extremely early for the following spring one. I’m so sly.

This may actually be better for me. At least it will allow me to work out some more financial and scholarshiply stuff, given that Money Is Tight right now what with doctors sabotaging my mom’s inner workings. So I can make me some cash first.

It may be easier with housing, too. I’m still not sure what I’ma do next year for living arrangements. I was considering renting a house with Liz, Josh, and Emily, but maybe it’d be easier to get an apartment with just Liz. Brita lives in a really nice complex with good rent, and it’s close to campus. I’ll have to talk to everyone about it and see what they say. I don’t want to just withdraw my offer of house to my friends. That would be misleading, and I hate misleading people.

If I go in the spring, I won’t be around here for the marauding hordes of prospective students and their parents, either. Spring has sprung, and out they start pouring. I remember that my own parents thought it was amazing how many Baby Boomers can turn their kid’s college experience into something all about them. A lot of them wondering how they could keep tabs on their pwecious’ e-mail and grades and weekend goings-on. Silly people.

But I got my Sector General book. Time for tea and cookies and science fiction. Ah, self-therapy.

I wonder what being Commodore Perry would have been like.

*huggles* Boy, does this sound familiar.

First off, speedy recovery and best wishes to your mother with whatever it is. Secondly, cash is good. Loans are too, but cash is preferable. Loans are the only way I'm doing this trip this summer, but I need out of here so very badly, need to start gittin' goin' with stuff for grad school, it's coming up fast, and it'll be spring again before you know it. :)

Take it from someone who lives off-campus, you want an apartment walking distance from class. Driving sucks, period, even if you live in a town like Logan, everyone from further away off-campus tries to park in your parking space reserved only for you, the habitant of the apartment right by campus.

Well, Eugene is flatter than Logan ~ I don't remember how it compares to Salt Lake, but yeah, I do want something that isn't far away.

Thanks for the best wishes to my mom, too. I don't know how much I should send into cyberspace, so I'll just say she's having some miscellaneous internal organ problems.

By the way, I was kinda busy, but damn you for getting to see the magnificent Jon Stewart! Awesome luck there. Enjoy.

Logan...is very hilly. And small townish, doi. It makes SLC look commie liberal pinko.

Eh, I understand online privacy, don't worry about it, you just tell whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

Yippee Jon Stewart! I called the school it is supposedly being held at earlier today, left a message for the receptionist, but I never got a call back from anyone, I still don't know if it's open to the public. It had better be or I'm seriously going to try and break in.

I knew it was small town, I just couldn't remember how even the ground was ... I lived on one of the mountains, so it was literally uphill both ways to school. Not good for walking.

My one persistent memory of Logan is the mutant sheep head birthday I had up there. A VERY persistent memory. I can't even BLEACH it out of my head.

Aahaha sheep. The sheep production classes here are something else, my friend was in one and she castrated lambs with her teeth, I think it was sufficient for an A grade on that homework.

I mean I lived on one of the SL Valley mountains, sorry.

Yeah, figured it was that as you said you went to Skyline (or was it Olympus?). My family's house is at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, so I know the whole mountain thing too. w00t Wasatch mountaineers!
