Ah, yes, because there is much geeky pride right now, anyone that has somewhat unpopular kids can tell them they are geeks and that is okay! It is kind of a 'take back the nerd' thing, but without the "don't worry, you'll grow up to invent something, make lots of money, and have a supermodel wife" aspect (which made it all possible, derr) because they can't have technology. However, she is not the first person to put forth the "geeks are not interested in stuff everyone else likes, therefore are better" hypothesis. It reminds me of this thing from geek2geek: "geeks are not interested in status." Really? Never? They never wank about who has the more authentic collector item, the more extensive game book collection, the higher kill rate in Halo? Whatever? No sense of status at all? Please.
