You Can SORT OF Pick Your Family ...

Cathode-Ray Tube Day

Mudd Day

Games Day

Really, this is sort of a crummy day, isn’t it?

Why do holiday shoppers always look like they’re about to swallow their faces?  They’re so grumpy.  I want to go up and say, “Hey, smile, this is supposed to be a happy time of year!”

The More Or Less Relatives—Mom’n’Dad’s friends from college and their kids—came over on Sunday night for a much too short visit.  They’re always worth talking with, though we have this tendency to all talk at once—loudly—so it’s a very, uh, spirited conversation.  They’re just as smart, and just as weird, as the rest of us, and we always get some bizarre combination of intellectualism and stupid jokes.  The best bit is that we’re all crazed liberals in an extremely not liberal place, and thus we get a chance to hang loose and trash people we disagree with.

Also, it’s darn fun, even though we make them watch all sorts of weird things on the big TV.  You gotta love friends you can do that with.

I really hope they come back to visit for the New Year.  The kids, who are partiers, may not, but I’d still love to have the others over.  It’s always a good time with the More Or Less Relatives.

In a completely unrelated matter, my iPod has 4481 songs on it.  Why is it, then, that every single time I put it on "shuffle all songs," somewhere in the first 100 it always plays Dr. John's "Love For Sale"?  'S a good song, but ... it's uncanny.
